Teacher Incentive Allotment in С»ÆѼµ¼º½ ISD
С»ÆѼµ¼º½ ISD is thrilled to announce our official acceptance into the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) through the Texas Education Agency. TIA was created by the Texas Legislature to provide a pathway for top-performing teachers to earn higher salaries and help districts attract and retain highly effective teachers.
What is the Teacher Incentive Allotment
TIA was established by the Texas Legislature as part of House Bill 3 in 2019, with the goal of providing outstanding teachers an accessible pathway to a six-figure salary. Local optional teacher designation systems allow districts to identify and designate highly effective teachers using teacher appraisal data. TIA elevates the education profession by recognizing and rewarding effective teaching and incentivizing outstanding teachers to remain in the classroom and improve student outcomes. Districts use TIA funds to retain their best teachers, recruit promising new teachers, and incentivize teachers to work in high-needs schools and difficult-to-staff positions. - tiatexas.org
TIA uses data from our existing appraisal system for our most effective teachers and designates them on different criteria levels: Recognized, Exemplary, and Master.

These teacher designations then generate additional teacher-focused allotment funding based on student, campus, and community demographics. In С»ÆѼµ¼º½ ISD, 90% of this funding goes directly to the teacher as long as their position is at least a .5 FTE in a classroom teaching role. Once a teacher earns a designation, they receive the TIA allotment for that designation for five years while they remain in the classroom.
Eligible TIA-designated teachers in С»ÆѼµ¼º½ ISD can earn approximately $3,000 - $28,000 each year.
Which Teachers are currently eligible to receive TIA funds?
С»ÆѼµ¼º½ ISD is implementing TIA in a phased approach. Our goal is to incentivize and compensate teachers for their work in improving student outcomes. For our first year of implementation, С»ÆѼµ¼º½ ISD analyzed the 2023–24 appraisal and student growth data for general education teachers in the following roles:
- K-3 Reading
- K-3 Math
- STAAR Math, Grades 4-8
- STAAR Reading, Grades 4-8
- STAAR Science, Grade 5
- STAAR Science, Grade 8
- STAAR Social Studies, Grade 8
- STAAR EOC: English I
- STAAR EOC: English II
- STAAR EOC: Algebra I
- STAAR EOC: Biology
- STAAR EOC: U.S. History
In the 2024-2025 school year, we developed a system to expand eligibility to include Special Education teachers and Content/Dyslexia Interventionist roles supporting the general education areas implemented in our first year. Our goal is that additional teacher groups will be onboarded moving forward.
All С»ÆѼµ¼º½ ISD teachers will still participate in our locally funded appraisal and compensation system, Professional Pathways for Teachers (PPfT). Keeping our locally developed system ensures that all С»ÆѼµ¼º½ ISD teachers will have the opportunity to increase their base pay connected through the PPfT System. Having both a local strategic compensation system in PPfT and our participation in the Teacher Incentive Allotment program sets С»ÆѼµ¼º½ ISD apart from other districts in central Texas.
